Improving Health Outcomes following Traumatic Brain Injury through Building a TBI-informed System of Services and Supports and Resource Facilitation
Investigation of Rehabilitation Therapy (RF) for Acute Traumatic Brain Injury
Brief description of study.
This study is designed to expand previous work on RF by testing the efficacy of RF in a more acute TBI sample and testing outcomes outside of employment. The new outcomes will include health related quality of life, community integration, and outcomes related to self-efficacy of chronic disease management.

Not able to follow commands
This study investigates the use of RF, which is a type of rehabilitation therapy, in people who have recently experienced a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Traumatic brain injury is a condition where the brain is damaged due to a sudden impact or jolt to the head. The study aims to see how RF can affect various outcomes other than just employment, such as the quality of life related to health, how well individuals can integrate into their community, and their ability to manage chronic diseases.
Participants in the study will undergo various procedures to assess these outcomes. The procedures will evaluate health-related quality of life, community integration, and self-efficacy in managing chronic diseases. These assessments will help understand the broader impacts of RF therapy beyond traditional employment outcomes.
- Who can participate: Adults with a documented traumatic brain injury who live in specific counties in Indiana, USA, are eligible to participate. Individuals must not have progressive central nervous system disorders, and they should be able to interact with the environment and follow commands. Eligible counties include Marion, Hamilton, and Allen.
- Study details: Participants will engage in rehabilitation therapy sessions involving RF.
