Evaluation of the HeartWare Ventricular Assist System for the Treatment of Advanced Heart Failure
Investigating a Ventricular Assist System for Heart Failure
Brief description of study.
This study is being done to test the safety and efficacy of the HeartWare Ventricular Assist System to assist with a failing heart while waiting for a heart transplant.
Detailed description of study
This study is being done to test the safety and efficacy of the HeartWare Ventricular Assist System to assist with a failing heart while waiting for a heart transplant.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Heart Failure
-
Age: 18 years - 100 years
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the use of a ventricular assist system for patients with heart failure who are awaiting a heart transplant. Heart failure is a condition where the heart cannot pump enough blood to meet the body's needs. The ventricular assist system is designed to help the heart pump blood more effectively.
Participants will undergo procedures to implant the ventricular assist system and will be monitored for safety and efficacy. Efficacy refers to how well the device works to improve heart function and patient outcomes.
- Who can participate: Individuals aged 18-65 with diagnosed heart failure who are on the transplant waiting list may be eligible to participate.
- Study details: Participants will have a device implanted to assist their heart function while they wait for a transplant. The study will monitor the safety and effectiveness of this system.
