Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Head and Neck Cancer
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the frequency and duration of diagnostic errors and delays in identifying head and neck cancer (HNC) among patients in the Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system. Head and neck cancer refers to a group of cancers that usually begin in the squamous cells that line the moist surfaces inside the head and neck. The study aims to understand how often these errors occur and how long they take to be corrected.

The study will also explore the root causes of these diagnostic errors and delays. This involves examining why these errors happen and identifying any patterns or common factors that contribute to them. By understanding these causes, the study hopes to find ways to reduce diagnostic errors and improve the timely diagnosis of HNC.

  • Who can participate: Participants are VA patients who have experienced diagnostic errors or delays in head and neck cancer diagnosis. The study seeks to include a diverse sample of patients within the VA healthcare system. Age criteria for participants will be specified if applicable.
  • Study details: Participants will be asked to provide information about their diagnostic experiences. This may include sharing medical records or participating in interviews to discuss their diagnosis journey. A placebo is not applicable in this study.
