The purpose of this study is to use brain imaging, biomarkers, genetic analysis, cognitive testing, and behavior rating to study changes that occur in the brain after a traumatic brain injury.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to use brain imaging, biomarkers, genetic analysis, cognitive testing, and behavior rating to study changes that occur in the brain after a traumatic brain injury.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Traumatic Brain Injury
  • Age: 18 years - 60 years
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the changes that happen in the brain following a traumatic brain injury. Traumatic brain injury is a condition where the brain is damaged due to a sudden impact or jolt to the head. The study will use brain imaging, which involves taking pictures of the brain, and biomarkers, which are substances that can indicate changes in the body. Genetic analysis, cognitive testing, and behavior rating will also be used to understand these changes.

Participants will undergo several procedures such as brain imaging to capture detailed pictures of their brain structure. Biomarkers will be analyzed through tests that identify specific proteins or molecules in the body. Genetic analysis will involve studying participants' DNA to look for patterns that might be linked to brain changes. Cognitive testing and behavior rating will assess the impact of the injury on thinking skills and behavior.

  • Who can participate: Eligible participants are adults aged 18-65 who have experienced a traumatic brain injury within the past year. Additional criteria include no history of neurological disorders unrelated to the injury.
  • Study details: Participants will engage in brain imaging, genetic analysis, and cognitive tests. These activities involve capturing detailed images of the brain, analyzing DNA for patterns related to brain changes, and assessing thinking skills and behavior.
