The Incidence of Intra-abdominal Abscess Following Blunt or Penetrating Abdominal Trauma
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to assess the overall incidence of intra-abdominal abscesses after laparotomy for either blunt or penetrating abdominal trauma and to compare the differences in outcomes relative to the following risk factors: etiology, presence of shock on admission, amount of blood transfused, and to the number and type(s) of organs injured, especially the colon.
