A 15 Year Single Institution Review of the Contegra Pulmonary Valve Conduit and How it Compares to the Freestyle Stentless Porcine Valve
Investigation of Valve Function in Patients with Bovine Jugular Vein Conduits
Brief description of study.
The purpose of the project is to update the database of patients who underwent placement of a bovine jugular vein (Contegra) as an RV-PA conduit. The outcomes of sizes 20 and 22 will then be compared to our previous study on outcomes of the stentless porcine valve in terms of conduit dysfunction and failure. A review of echocardiogram measurements during the post-operative follow-up will be used to determine valve function.

Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Healthy
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the function of a bovine jugular vein used as a conduit between the right ventricle and pulmonary artery (RV-PA). The purpose is to compare the outcomes of different sizes of this conduit with previous studies on another type of valve. A conduit is a tube that helps blood flow from the heart to the lungs. Echocardiograms, which are heart ultrasound tests, will be used to check how well the valve works after surgery.
Participants will undergo echocardiogram tests during their follow-up visits. These tests will help doctors see how the conduit is functioning over time. The study will compare the results from these tests with past data to understand any differences in valve performance.
- Who can participate: The study is open to patients who have undergone surgery involving a bovine jugular vein conduit. Specific age criteria and other eligibility factors are not provided.
- Study details: Participants will have echocardiograms, which are ultrasound tests of the heart, during follow-up visits to assess the function of the conduit.
