Detailed description of study

The primary goal of this study is to investigate the degree to which the operating lung volumes and alveolar pressures differ during quiet tidal breathing and during reiterant speech.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates how lung volumes and alveolar pressures change during quiet breathing compared to when a person is speaking repeatedly. Lung volumes refer to the amount of air in the lungs, and alveolar pressures are the pressures within the small air sacs in the lungs called alveoli.

Participants will be monitored while they breathe quietly and while they speak repeatedly. The study will measure the differences in lung volumes and pressures during these activities.

  • Who can participate: Eligible participants are adults aged 18-65, with no history of respiratory disorders.
  • Study details: Participants will be asked to perform quiet breathing and reiterant speech tasks. The study will involve measuring lung volumes and alveolar pressures during these tasks.
