An Evaluation of the Effectiveness of the Modified Graston Technique on Reducing Edema Following an Acute Ankle Sprain
Study on Techniques for Reducing Swelling After Ankle Sprains
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of two different treatment techniques on reducing swelling following an ankle sprain and to identify return to play protocol following acute lateral ankle sprains
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to determine if the addition of a soft tissue mobilization technique to a traditional treatment protocol will improve levels of swelling and pain following a lateral ankle sprain and to identify a return to play protocol following lateral ankle sprains.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Acute Ankle Sprain
-
Age: 14 years - 100 years
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the effects of two different treatment techniques on reducing swelling after an ankle sprain. An ankle sprain occurs when the ligaments that support the ankle stretch or tear, causing pain and swelling. The study aims to find out if adding a soft tissue mobilization technique to the usual treatment can help decrease swelling and pain.
Participants in the study may receive one of the two treatment techniques. The study will monitor their swelling and pain levels to determine the effectiveness of the treatments. Soft tissue mobilization involves using hands or tools to massage and move the muscles and tissues around the injured area.
- Who can participate: Adults aged 18-65 with a recent ankle sprain. Participants should not have any other lower limb injuries or conditions that affect healing.
- Study details: Participants will receive either a traditional treatment protocol or a protocol that includes soft tissue mobilization. Soft tissue mobilization is a method where hands or tools are used to massage and move muscles and tissues. The study will assess changes in swelling and pain.
