Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of salivary fluoride in remineralizing acid-softened enamel in the period shortly after brushing with a fluoride dentifrice and up to four hours post brushing, and thereby evaluate the anti-erosion benefits of test treatment.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the effect of salivary fluoride in repairing enamel that has been softened by acid. Enamel is the hard outer surface of teeth, and it can be damaged by acidic foods and drinks. The purpose of this study is to see how fluoride in saliva can help strengthen enamel after brushing with a fluoride toothpaste.

Participants will brush their teeth with a fluoride toothpaste and then the study will measure how well their enamel recovers over the next four hours. This will help understand the benefits of fluoride in preventing tooth erosion, which is the wearing away of the tooth surface.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be adults aged 18-65 with no existing dental conditions that could affect the study results.
  • Study details: Participants will brush their teeth with a fluoride toothpaste, and researchers will observe the effects on their enamel. There will be no use of a placebo in this study.
