Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ability of Emergency Physicians (EPs), with focused minimal training, to perform and interpret an appendix ultrasound on patients with a moderate to high pretest probability of acute appendicitis.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: appendicitis
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the ability of Emergency Physicians to use ultrasound technology to diagnose acute appendicitis. Acute appendicitis is a condition where the appendix becomes inflamed and painful, often requiring surgery. The study focuses on Emergency Physicians who have received minimal training in performing and interpreting appendix ultrasounds on patients who are likely to have this condition.

Participants will undergo an ultrasound procedure conducted by an Emergency Physician. The ultrasound is a test that uses sound waves to create images of the inside of the body, in this case, the appendix. The study aims to determine how well these physicians can perform and interpret the results of the ultrasound after receiving focused minimal training.

  • Who can participate: This study does not specify age criteria or other key eligibility factors.
  • Study details: Participants will have an appendix ultrasound conducted by an Emergency Physician with minimal training. The study aims to assess the physician's ability to perform and interpret the ultrasound results.
