Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to investigate when and where offenders after arrest or release from incarceration are seen in the health system and, at points where they access clinical care, whether they are being screened for STI and HIV, and to investigate HIV care and outcomes among newly diagnosed HIV+ individuals arrested or released from jail, prison or juvenile detention within Marion County, Indiana.

The purpose of this study is to investigate when and where offenders after arrest or release from incarceration are seen in the health system and, at points where they access clinical care, whether they are being screened for STI and HIV, and to investigate HIV care and outcomes among newly diagnosed HIV+ individuals arrested or released from jail, prison or juvenile detention within Marion County, Indiana.

This study investigates the interaction of offenders with the health system after arrest or release from incarceration. It looks at when and where these individuals access clinical care and whether they are screened for sexually transmitted infections (STI) and HIV. Additionally, it explores HIV care and outcomes for those newly diagnosed with HIV who have been arrested or released from jail, prison, or juvenile detention in Marion County, Indiana.
Participants in this study will undergo screenings for STI and HIV at various points of accessing clinical care. The study will also monitor the HIV care and outcomes for newly diagnosed individuals within the specified population. This process involves tracking their health status and the type of care they receive.
- Who can participate: Individuals aged 18 and older who have been arrested or released from incarceration in Marion County, Indiana, may participate. Key eligibility includes not having prior HIV diagnosis before arrest or release.
- Study details: Participants will be screened for STI and HIV during their interactions with the health system. The study will also track the care and outcomes of those diagnosed with HIV. If applicable, a placebo may be used: an inactive substance that looks like the investigational medicine/vaccine but does not contain any medicine.
