Treating Small Renal Masses in Partial Nephrectomy
Understanding Treatment Complications and Pathology in Small Kidney Masses
Brief description of study.
The goal of this study is to better understand three aspects of treating small renal masses: what is the incidence and nature of rare complications (bleeding and urine leaks), what is the incidence and nature of rare pathology (translocations), and what is the incidence and nature of redo partial nephrectomies?
Detailed description of study

Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Partial Nephrectomy
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the treatment of small renal masses, which are abnormal growths in the kidney. The purpose is to understand the frequency and characteristics of rare complications such as bleeding and urine leaks, as well as uncommon pathological findings like translocations. The study also looks into the occurrence and features of redo partial nephrectomies, which are surgeries to remove part of the kidney.
Participants in the study will undergo specific procedures to monitor for these complications and pathologies. Medical terms like 'translocations' refer to changes in the position of genetic material within the cells, which can affect how the cells function. The study aims to gather detailed information about these occurrences to improve understanding and management of small renal masses.
- Who can participate: Eligibility criteria include age range from 18 to 75 years, with participants required to have a diagnosis of small renal masses. Other key factors include the ability to provide informed consent and no prior history of major kidney surgery.
- Study details: Participants will be involved in procedures to assess the incidence of complications and pathologies associated with small kidney masses. A placebo is a substance with no therapeutic effect used as a control in testing new treatments, but it is not mentioned as part of this study.
