The purpose of this study is to identify key factors that shape educational outcomes for OEF/OIF/OND veterans with mental or cognitive health diagnoses. The research will develop a conceptual framework for communication issues, social networks, and models of care that lead to successful educational attainment by comparing how four-year and two-year institutions offer educational pathways for veterans receiving VHA healthcare.

The purpose of this study is to identify key factors that shape educational outcomes for veterans who served in the operations OEF, OIF, or OND and have mental or cognitive health diagnoses. This study aims to develop a framework to understand how communication, social networks, and care models impact educational success. It will compare the educational pathways provided by four-year and two-year institutions for veterans receiving healthcare through the VHA.
Participants will be involved in procedures that examine the educational pathways and support systems available to them. The study will look at how different institutions support veterans in their educational journey, focusing on the effectiveness of communication and social networks in facilitating educational attainment.
- Who can participate: Veterans who served in Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF), Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), or Operation New Dawn (OND) with mental or cognitive health diagnoses and are receiving Veterans Health Administration (VHA) healthcare are eligible to participate.
- Study details: Participants will explore educational pathways and support systems at different institutions. The study will assess how communication and social networks assist veterans in their educational pursuits.
