Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to find the amount of weight gained from the beginning of treatment with radioactive iodine of children with hyperthyroidism until the child has normalized on hormone replacement.

The purpose of this study is to find the amount of weight gained from the beginning of treatment with radioactive iodine of children with hyperthyroidism until the child has normalized on hormone replacement.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: hyperthyroidism
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the weight gain in children with hyperthyroidism who are treated with radioactive iodine. Hyperthyroidism is a condition where the thyroid gland produces too much thyroid hormone, leading to a faster metabolism and weight loss. Radioactive iodine is a treatment used to slow down the production of thyroid hormones.

Participants in this study will undergo treatment with radioactive iodine and their weight will be monitored until their hormone levels are normalized with hormone replacement therapy. Hormone replacement therapy involves taking medications to replace the hormones that the body is not producing in sufficient quantities.

  • Who can participate: Children diagnosed with hyperthyroidism who are undergoing treatment with radioactive iodine are eligible to participate. Participants should be within the age range of 6 to 18 years.
  • Study details: Participants will receive radioactive iodine treatment and their weight will be monitored. Hormone replacement therapy will be provided to normalize hormone levels.
