Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to compare outcomes of depressed tibial plateu fractures treated with standard internal fixation techniques that are augmented with either synthetic BVF (calcium phosphate) pr cancellous allograft bone grafting in adults.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to compare outcomes of depressed tibial plateu fractures treated with standard internal fixation techniques that are augmented with either synthetic BVF (calcium phosphate) pr cancellous allograft bone grafting in adults.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: tibial fracture
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates treatments for depressed tibial plateau fractures, which are injuries to the top surface of the shinbone near the knee. The purpose is to compare two methods of treatment: one using synthetic bone void filler, which is a calcium phosphate substance, and the other using cancellous allograft bone grafting, which involves transplanting bone tissue from a donor.

Participants will undergo standard internal fixation techniques, which involve using metal plates and screws to stabilize the bone. The study will then augment this procedure with either synthetic bone void filler or cancellous allograft bone grafting to evaluate which method provides better outcomes.

  • Who can participate: Adults with depressed tibial plateau fractures are eligible to participate in this study. Participants should be able to undergo standard internal fixation techniques.
  • Study details: Participants will receive standard internal fixation, a procedure using metal plates and screws, followed by either synthetic bone void filler or cancellous allograft bone grafting. A placebo is not used in this study.
