Factors influencing bisphosphonate drug holidays: a clinical database study
Investigating Bisphosphonate Drug Holidays and Fracture Incidence
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to use clinical and prescription data from the Indiana Network for Patient Care and Indiana University Health to determine the incidence of the practice of bisphosphonate drug holidays and to determine factors predicting the duration and ending of drug holidays and determine fracture incidence during drug holidays.

Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: osteoporosis
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the practice of taking breaks, known as 'drug holidays,' from bisphosphonates, which are medications used to strengthen bones. The study aims to understand how often these breaks occur and what factors influence their duration and conclusion. Additionally, it examines the rate of bone fractures that happen during these drug holidays.
Participants in this study will have their clinical and prescription data analyzed to identify patterns and outcomes related to bisphosphonate drug holidays. This includes looking at how long the breaks last and what might predict when they end. The study will also track any fractures that occur while participants are on a drug holiday.
- Who can participate: The eligibility criteria are not specified in the provided text.
- Study details: Participants will provide access to their clinical and prescription data for analysis. The study will focus on identifying patterns in bisphosphonate drug holidays, including their duration and the occurrence of fractures during these periods.
