Improving Outcomes following Cytoreductive Surgery and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy Using a Post-operative Enhanced Recovery Pathway
Investigating Post-Operative Outcomes with Enhanced Pathway for Abdominal Surgery
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to compare post-operative outcomes in patients treated with CRS/HIPEC that were placed on an enhanced pathway with those that were managed without.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to compare post-operative outcomes in patients treated with CRS/HIPEC that were placed on an enhanced pathway with those that were managed without.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Cancer
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the post-operative outcomes of patients who have undergone a surgical procedure called CRS/HIPEC. CRS stands for cytoreductive surgery, which aims to remove visible tumors, and HIPEC stands for hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy, a treatment where heated chemotherapy is applied directly to the abdominal cavity. The study focuses on comparing outcomes between patients on an enhanced recovery pathway and those who are not.
Participants in this study will undergo CRS/HIPEC surgery, after which their recovery will be monitored. Some patients will follow an enhanced recovery pathway, which may involve specific post-operative care strategies to improve recovery, while others will receive standard post-operative care. The study aims to determine if the enhanced pathway leads to better recovery outcomes.
- Who can participate: Participants must be adults eligible for CRS/HIPEC surgery, with specific inclusion criteria such as age range and health status to be determined by the study protocol.
- Study details: Participants will undergo CRS/HIPEC surgery and will be placed into one of two study arms: one following an enhanced recovery pathway and the other receiving standard care. The study will compare the post-operative outcomes between these two groups.
