Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to determine if ICC abnormalities of the stomach and proximal jejunum can be used as a biologic marker in predicting clinical outcome in patients undergoing surgical implantation of GES for severe gastroparesis.

The purpose of this study is to determine if ICC abnormalities of the stomach and proximal jejunum can be used as a biologic marker in predicting clinical outcome in patients undergoing surgical implantation of GES for severe gastroparesis.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: gastroparesis

Age: 100 years or below

Gender: All
This study investigates whether abnormalities in interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) in the stomach and proximal jejunum can be used as biological markers. These markers may help predict the outcomes for patients who undergo surgical implantation of gastric electrical stimulation (GES) for severe gastroparesis. Gastroparesis is a condition where the stomach cannot empty food properly, causing nausea and vomiting.
Participants in this study will undergo procedures related to the surgical implantation of gastric electrical stimulation (GES). The study will examine the presence of ICC abnormalities to determine their potential role as predictive markers for clinical outcomes.
