Leveraging Integrated Electronic Data Sources to Improve Population Health Assessment at Local Levels
Study of Population Health Indicators Using Integrated Health Data
Brief description of study.
In the project, we will use integrated electronic health record (EHR) and community information system (CIS) data to generate HEDIS-like population health indicators at various geographic levels smaller than a county. Calculated indicators will be validated and visualized, and staff at the Marion County Public Health Department will provide feedback on their usefulness. Lessons and outcomes of the project will provide insight on the feasibility and validity of using integrated electronic health data with neighborhood level information to improve community assessment. Improving assessment processes will enable more informed health department planning and policy activities, leading to more effective public health systems and services.

Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: healthy
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates how integrated electronic health records (EHR) and community information systems (CIS) data can be used to create health indicators similar to HEDIS, which stands for Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set. These indicators will be developed for areas smaller than a county and will be validated and reviewed for their usefulness by public health staff.
The study involves calculating and visualizing these health indicators. Feedback on the indicators will be provided by staff at the Marion County Public Health Department to assess their practicality in improving community health assessments. This process aims to enhance planning and policy activities for more effective public health services.
- Who can participate: NONE.
- Study details: Public health staff will engage in activities related to the calculation and visualization of health indicators using data from EHR and CIS. Feedback will be gathered from public health department staff on the usefulness of these indicators.
