Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate developmental reagent pouches as well as performance and clinical utility of potential assays to be included in the Film Array LRTI panel when used to bronchoalveolar lavage and sputum specimens from patients suspected of having a lower respiratory tract infection.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate developmental reagent pouches as well as performance and clinical utility of potential assays to be included in the Film Array LRTI panel when used to bronchoalveolar lavage and sputum specimens from patients suspected of having a lower respiratory tract infection.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Lower Respiratory Tract Infection
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

The purpose of this study is to evaluate developmental reagent pouches and the performance of potential tests, known as assays, that may be included in a panel for diagnosing lower respiratory tract infections. Lower respiratory tract infections affect the lungs and airways, causing symptoms like coughing and difficulty breathing.

Participants in this study will provide samples through bronchoalveolar lavage, a procedure to collect fluid from the lungs, and sputum, which is mucus from the respiratory tract. These samples will help researchers assess the effectiveness of the assays in detecting infections.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be suspected of having a lower respiratory tract infection. No age criteria specified.
  • Study details: Participants will provide samples through bronchoalveolar lavage and sputum collection for testing.
