The Impact of Perioperative Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy on Urinary Outcomes Following Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate
Investigating Pelvic Floor Muscle Training for Urinary Continence
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to see if formal pelvic floor muscle training surrounding holmium laser enucleation of the prostate helps patients to return to urinary continence sooner than without formal pelvic floor muscle training.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to see if formal pelvic floor muscle training surrounding holmium laser enucleation of the prostate helps patients to return to urinary continence sooner than without formal pelvic floor muscle training.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: benign prostatic hyperplasia
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates whether pelvic floor muscle training can help patients regain urinary continence after undergoing a procedure called holmium laser enucleation of the prostate. Urinary continence refers to the ability to control urination, and the prostate is a gland in the male reproductive system.
Participants will be divided into study arms where some will receive formal pelvic floor muscle training and others will not. The study will compare the recovery of urinary continence between these groups.
- Who can participate: Typically includes adult males who have undergone the specified procedure.
- Study details: Participants will either undergo formal pelvic floor muscle training or not, depending on the study arm they are assigned to. The study aims to compare the recovery outcomes between these two groups.
