Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to compare four different pain control methods by achieving improved pain scores, decreased narcotic needs, improved patient satisfaction scores, and decreased narcotic side-effects for subjects who are scheduled to undergo VATS.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: thoracic surgery
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates different methods for managing pain in patients undergoing VATS, which stands for Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery. The purpose is to compare four pain control methods to see which one is most effective in reducing pain, lowering the need for narcotics, improving patient satisfaction, and minimizing side effects from narcotics.

Participants in the study will receive one of four different pain management strategies. These strategies will be compared to determine their effectiveness in achieving better pain control and reducing the need for narcotic medications, which are drugs used to relieve pain but can have side effects.

  • Who can participate: Participants must meet specific eligibility criteria, including age requirements and other health factors, which will be provided by the study coordinators.
  • Study details: Participants will receive one of four different pain management methods and their pain scores, narcotic needs, and satisfaction will be measured. Narcotics are medications used to relieve pain but can have side effects.
