Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and efficacy of the Visualase System for necrotization or coagulation of epileptogenic foci in patients with intractable mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE).

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: epilepsy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the use of a system for treating patients with intractable mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE). MTLE is a type of epilepsy where seizures originate in the inner part of the temporal lobe of the brain. The study aims to determine how safe and effective this system is for targeting and treating the areas of the brain that cause seizures.

Participants will undergo procedures using the system designed to treat specific brain areas responsible for seizures. The study will monitor the effects of the treatment to assess its safety and effectiveness.

  • Who can participate: Participants aged 18 to 65 with a diagnosis of intractable mesial temporal lobe epilepsy may be eligible. Key factors include a history of unsuccessful treatment with conventional therapies.
  • Study details: Participants will undergo procedures using the investigational system to target specific brain areas responsible for seizures.
