Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to examine whether or not children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can learn how to identify emotions through facial expressions when they are explicitly taught to pair certain facial features with certain emotions.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: autism spectrum disorder
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates whether children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can learn to recognize emotions by looking at facial expressions. Autism spectrum disorder is a condition that affects how a person communicates and interacts with others. The study aims to see if teaching children to connect certain facial features with specific emotions can improve their ability to identify emotions.

Participants will be taught to pair facial features, such as a smile or frown, with the emotions they represent. This process involves showing children different facial expressions and explaining what emotion each expression is linked to. The goal is to help children with ASD better understand and recognize emotions through structured learning.

  • Who can participate: Children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are eligible to participate. Specific age criteria are not detailed. There are no age restrictions.
  • Study details: Participants will engage in learning sessions where they will be taught to identify emotions by associating facial features with specific emotions. This will involve structured teaching methods to aid in emotion recognition.
