The purpose of this study is to advance our understanding of the development of second-language learners' ability to interpret conversational implicatures.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

The purpose of this study is to explore how people learning a second language understand implied meanings in conversations. Conversational implicatures are hints or suggestions that are not directly stated but understood in context.

Participants will engage in activities designed to assess their ability to interpret these conversational hints. This may include listening exercises, reading tasks, and answering questions about implied meanings.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be adults aged 18-50 who are currently learning a second language. They should have basic proficiency in the language being studied and no prior history of language disorders.
  • Study details: Participants will engage in activities such as listening exercises, reading tasks, and answering questions to assess their understanding of implied meanings in conversations.
