Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of an active gaming intervention on energy expenditure, ratings of perceived exertion, and perceived levels of enjoyment.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of an active gaming intervention on energy expenditure, ratings of perceived exertion, and perceived levels of enjoyment. Energy expenditure refers to the amount of energy a person uses to perform physical activities. Ratings of perceived exertion are how hard someone feels they are working during physical activity. Perceived levels of enjoyment are how much a person enjoys the activity they are doing.

Participants in the study will engage in an active gaming intervention. This involves playing video games that require physical movement, which is expected to increase energy expenditure and influence how hard participants feel they are working, as well as how much they enjoy the activity.

  • Who can participate: Participants aged 18 to 35 who are generally healthy and have experience with video gaming are eligible to participate.
  • Study details: Participants will play video games that require physical movement. This activity is expected to increase physical activity levels and provide data on energy use and enjoyment.
