Nutritional Practices and Outcomes in Non-Invasive Ventilation (NPO/NIV)
Investigating Non-Invasive Ventilation and Feeding in Critically Ill Children
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to understand how non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is used to treat critically ill children and, concurrently, how these children are fed while on NIV.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to understand how non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is used to treat critically ill children and, concurrently, how these children are fed while on NIV.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Healthy
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
The purpose of this study is to understand how non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is used to treat critically ill children and, concurrently, how these children are fed while on NIV. Non-invasive ventilation is a method to help children breathe without the need for a tube inserted into the windpipe.
In this study, researchers will observe the use of NIV and feeding practices in critically ill children. They will collect data on how often and in what ways NIV is used, as well as how nutrition is provided to these children during their treatment.
- Who can participate: The study is open to critically ill children who are receiving non-invasive ventilation. Age criteria are not specified, and other eligibility factors are not provided.
- Study details: Participants will have their use of non-invasive ventilation and feeding practices observed by researchers. The study does not involve any changes to the usual care provided to these children.
