The Pathology Core of the Parkinson's Progression Marker Initiative (PPMI)
Investigation of Indicators for Parkinson's Disease Onset
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to identify clinical, imaging, and biologic markers of Parkinson's disease onset.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this study is to identify clinical, imaging, and biologic markers of Parkinson's disease onset.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: Parkinson's disease
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the identification of clinical, imaging, and biological markers for the onset of Parkinson's disease. Parkinson's disease is a brain disorder that leads to shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with walking, balance, and coordination. Identifying markers can help understand when the disease begins.
Participants will undergo various procedures including clinical assessments, imaging tests, and biological sampling. Imaging tests may include scans that take pictures of the brain, while biological sampling involves collecting samples like blood or saliva to study changes that might indicate the onset of Parkinson's disease.
- Who can participate: Participants should be adults aged 18 years and older who have not been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease but may be at risk due to family history or early symptoms.
- Study details: Participants will be involved in clinical assessments and may provide biological samples such as blood or saliva. Imaging tests may include brain scans.
