Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to understand if there are certain clinical or sociodemographic characteristics of the extremely premature newborn or his/her mother, characteristics of antenatal counseling, or effects of center in which care is received that predispose election by the parent for comfort care vs. resuscitation in the delivery room.

The purpose of this study is to understand if there are certain clinical or sociodemographic characteristics of the extremely premature newborn or his/her mother, characteristics of antenatal counseling, or effects of center in which care is received that predispose election by the parent for comfort care vs. resuscitation in the delivery room.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: premature birth
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the factors that may influence a parent's decision to choose comfort care or resuscitation for their extremely premature newborn in the delivery room. It aims to explore whether certain clinical or sociodemographic characteristics of the newborn or the mother, aspects of antenatal counseling, or the characteristics of the healthcare center affect these decisions.

Participants in this study may be asked questions about their experiences and decisions regarding the care of their premature newborn. The study will collect data to understand the various influences on parental choices, but no medical treatments or interventions will be administered as part of the study.

  • Who can participate: Parents of extremely premature newborns, defined as infants born before 28 weeks of gestation.
  • Study details: Participants will be involved in surveys or interviews to discuss their experiences and decisions concerning their newborn's care. No medical procedures or treatments will be part of this study.
