Brief description of study.

The purpose of this research study is to see if Atorvastatin (generic for Lipitor) 40mg by mouth daily decreases the chance of developing heart problems in patients receiving anthracycline based chemotherapy for breast cancer or lymphoma.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to use inexpensive medications to preserve CV health and thereby improve overall survival in the growing number of breast cancer and lymphoma patients.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: breast cancer,lymphoma
  • Age: 21 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

The purpose of this study is to investigate whether taking an investigational medication daily can reduce the risk of heart problems in patients who are receiving a specific type of chemotherapy for breast cancer or lymphoma. Chemotherapy is a treatment that uses strong medicines to kill cancer cells, but it can sometimes affect the heart.

Participants in this study will take the investigational medication by mouth every day. The study aims to see if this can help keep the heart healthy while undergoing chemotherapy.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be adults aged 18 and older who are currently undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer or lymphoma and have no pre-existing severe heart conditions.
  • Study details: Participants will take the investigational medication by mouth once a day. The study will monitor the effects on heart health during chemotherapy treatment. An inactive substance that looks like the investigational medication but does not contain any medicine may be used as a placebo.
