Detailed description of study

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: substance use disorder
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the use of motivational enhancement therapy (MET) combined with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and contingency management (CM) to reduce the number of days students use substances. Motivational enhancement therapy is a counseling approach that helps individuals find the motivation to change their behavior, while cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on changing negative thought patterns. Contingency management offers rewards for positive behavior changes.

Participants will undergo a series of therapy sessions where MET, CBT, and CM techniques will be applied. The study will monitor the effectiveness of these combined therapies in changing substance use behavior among students.

  • Who can participate: Students aged 12-18 in the public school system with a substance use disorder are eligible to participate.
  • Study details: Participants will engage in therapy sessions that include motivational enhancement and cognitive behavioral therapy, along with contingency management. Contingency management involves providing rewards for meeting specific behavior goals.
