Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Clinical Database
Study on Orthopaedic Trauma Data Collection
Brief description of study.
Despite advances that have been made in electronic medical record (EMR) technology, EMR software does not facilitate data gathering and analysis in the research setting. Therefore, retrospective research is often difficult to complete. IU Methodist Hospital is one of the busiest trauma centers in the country and has the capability to contribute significant amounts of data to orthopaedic trauma research. Our goal with this research is to maintain a database of pertinent information of all the patients seen by our orthopaedic trauma service. This will facilitate completion of numerous future retrospective studies.
