Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of opening an inpatient child psychiatric unit on an urban tertiary care pediatric emergency department. We aim to compare the overall volume of patients with primary psychiatric billing/diagnosis codes before and after opening an inpatient psychiatric unit, in addition to the relative use of psychiatric medications/restraints utilized and duration of ED stay.

The purpose of this study is to identify the impact of opening an inpatient child psychiatric unit on an urban tertiary care pediatric emergency department. We aim to compare the overall volume of patients with primary psychiatric billing/diagnosis codes before and after opening an inpatient psychiatric unit, in addition to the relative use of psychiatric medications/restraints utilized and duration of ED stay.

- Conditions: psychoneurosis,psychotic,psychosis,overdose

The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of opening a new inpatient child psychiatric unit on a pediatric emergency department in an urban area. This study will compare the number of patients with psychiatric diagnoses before and after the unit opens, as well as the use of psychiatric medications and restraints, and the length of time patients stay in the emergency department.
Participants in the study will be monitored for changes in psychiatric care practices, including the administration of medications and the use of restraints. The study will also assess how the opening of the inpatient unit affects the duration of emergency department visits for children with psychiatric needs.

- Study details: This observational study will monitor changes in psychiatric care practices and emergency department visit durations. Participants will not be required to take any specific actions.
