An Interdisciplinary Approach to Pain Managment
Investigating the Effects of Patient-Controlled Epidural Analgesia (PCEA) on Opioid Usage
Brief description of study.
We hypothesized that PCEA usage should result in decreased IV and PO opioid usage.
Detailed description of study
We hypothesized that PCEA usage should result in decreased IV and PO opioid usage.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: post operative pain
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
The purpose of this study is to investigate how using PCEA, which stands for Patient-Controlled Epidural Analgesia, affects the use of opioids given through an IV or taken by mouth. Opioids are a type of medicine used to reduce pain, and the study aims to see if PCEA can help in reducing their usage.
Participants in the study will be monitored for their opioid intake while using PCEA. The study will involve tracking the amount of opioids used and comparing it to typical usage without PCEA. This may include regular check-ins and assessments to gather data on opioid consumption.
- Who can participate: Eligibility criteria are not specified.
- Study details: Participants will use PCEA and their opioid intake will be monitored. A placebo may be used if applicable.
