The purpose of this study is to evaluate short and midterm outcomes including complications, appropriate/inappropriate shocks, and effect of newer device generations and evaluate the effect of differing cardioaverter defibrillator implantation techniques.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate short and midterm outcomes including complications, appropriate/inappropriate shocks, and effect of newer device generations and evaluate the effect of differing cardioaverter defibrillator implantation techniques.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Congenital Heart Disease
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the outcomes of cardioverter defibrillator implantation, focusing on short and midterm results. A cardioverter defibrillator is a device implanted in the body to help control irregular heartbeats by delivering shocks to the heart when necessary. The study aims to understand the complications and the effectiveness of different device generations and implantation techniques.

Participants in this study will undergo procedures related to the implantation of the cardioverter defibrillator. The study will monitor for any complications and measure the frequency and appropriateness of shocks delivered by the device. This will help in assessing the impact of different implantation techniques.

  • Who can participate: Eligible participants are adults aged 18-75 with a history of irregular heartbeats or at risk for sudden cardiac arrest.
  • Study details: Participants will have a cardioverter defibrillator implanted and will be monitored for complications and device performance. The study will compare different implantation techniques to assess outcomes. If a placebo is involved, it will be an inactive substance that looks like the investigational medicine but does not contain any medicine.
