Retrospective Analysis of Preoperative Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) Creation and Subsequent Surgical Outcomes
Investigating the Impact of Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) Creation on Surgical Candidacy and Postoperative Outcomes
Brief description of study.
This study will seek to understand how TIPS creation may influence patients' surgical candidacy and impact their postoperative outcomes.
Detailed description of study
This study will seek to understand how TIPS creation may influence patients' surgical candidacy and impact their postoperative outcomes.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: cirrhosis,portal hypertension
-
Age: 100 years or below
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the effects of TIPS creation on patients who may be candidates for surgery. TIPS, or Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt, is a procedure that connects two veins in the liver to treat portal hypertension, which is high blood pressure in the veins that supply the liver.
Participants will undergo procedures to create a TIPS and will be monitored to assess how this affects their eligibility for surgery and their recovery after surgery. The study will collect data on various health metrics to understand the outcomes of the TIPS procedure.
- Who can participate: Specific eligibility criteria, including age range and health conditions, are not provided in the trial description.
- Study details: Participants will have a Transjugular Intrahepatic Portosystemic Shunt (TIPS) procedure, which involves connecting two veins in the liver. The study will monitor the effects of this procedure on surgical outcomes.
