The impact of soft contact lens surface and optics on symptoms associated with digital eye strain in symptomatic soft contact lens wearers (DESI)
Study on Eye Strain and Dryness in Contact Lens Wearers
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to learn about tired eyes, dryness and quality of vision throughout the day of soft contact lens wearers.
Detailed description of study
The purpose of this randomized, bilateral, crossover dispensing study is to quantify the real-time subject-reported strain, dryness, and quality of vision throughout the day of digital eye strain in symptomatic, non-daily replacement silicone hydrogel soft contact lens wearers and the change in symptomology associated with change to DAILIES TOTAL 1 (sphere), DAILIES TOTAL 1 multifocal (LO Add), relative to normal replacement of habitual lens.
Eligibility of study
You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:
- Conditions: eye fatigue
-
Age: 18 years - 35 years
-
Gender: All
This study investigates the experience of tired eyes, dryness, and vision quality in people who wear soft contact lenses. The purpose is to understand how these symptoms change throughout the day for those who use silicone hydrogel lenses, which are a type of soft contact lens that allows more oxygen to reach the eye.
Participants will report their experiences with eye strain and dryness while using their regular lenses and then after switching to a different type of daily disposable lens. This will help measure any changes in symptoms when using different lenses.
- Who can participate: This study is open to individuals aged 18 and above who wear silicone hydrogel soft contact lenses and experience symptoms of digital eye strain. Participants should be non-daily replacement lens users.
- Study details: This is a randomized, bilateral, crossover dispensing study. Participants will wear their usual contact lenses and then switch to a daily disposable lens. They will report on eye strain and dryness. A placebo is not used in this study.
