Brief description of study.

We intend to prospectively study the clinical and microbial outcomes of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who also have recurrent clostridium difficile infections (CDI). The overall objective of the study is to collect quality data and create a tissue and data bank to understand the effects FMT has on this unique population of IBD patients.

Detailed description of study

We intend to prospectively study the clinical and microbial outcomes of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) who also have recurrent clostridium difficile infections (CDI). The overall objective of the study is to collect quality data and create a tissue and data bank to understand the effects FMT has on this unique population of IBD patients.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: inflammatory bowel disease
  • Age: 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the effects of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) on patients who have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and also experience recurrent Clostridium difficile infections (CDI). FMT involves transferring stool from a healthy donor into the gut of a patient to restore healthy bacteria balance. The purpose of this study is to explore how FMT affects the clinical and microbial outcomes in this group of patients.

Participants will undergo fecal microbiota transplantation and their health outcomes will be monitored. The study will collect samples and data to create a tissue and data bank, which will help researchers understand the impact of FMT on these patients. This involves checking the changes in gut bacteria and overall health after the procedure.

  • Who can participate: Individuals aged 18 and older with inflammatory bowel disease who also suffer from recurrent Clostridium difficile infections are eligible to participate.
  • Study details: Participants will receive fecal microbiota transplantation, which involves transferring stool from a healthy donor to the patient. The study will collect samples and data to analyze changes in gut bacteria and health outcomes.
