Collection of Liver Tissue and a Blood Sample for Future Research
Study on Liver Tissue and Blood Sample Collection for Research
Brief description of study.
In clinical practice, we obtain liver biopsies on patients with liver disorders to aid in the diagnosis and management of their liver disease. We would like to collect a small sample of liver tissue at the time of their liver biopsy and like to store it frozen for future research purposes. It should be noted that the liver biopsies are performed as a part of their standard of medical care. At the time of liver biopsy, we also like to obtain a blood sample (15 ml) which will be frozen and stored as well for future research. The blood will be used specifically for liver related testing.

This study investigates the collection of liver tissue and blood samples from patients with liver disorders. Liver disorders are conditions that affect the normal functioning of the liver, which is an important organ in the body. The purpose of this study is to collect small samples of liver tissue and blood during routine liver biopsies, which are procedures used to diagnose and manage liver diseases. The collected samples will be stored frozen for future research purposes.
During the study, patients who are undergoing liver biopsies as part of their standard medical care will have an additional small liver tissue sample collected. Additionally, a blood sample of about 15 milliliters will be taken. These samples will be frozen and stored for future research focused on liver-related testing.
- Who can participate: Patients undergoing liver biopsies as part of their standard medical care for liver disorders are eligible to participate.
- Study details: Participants will have a small additional liver tissue sample collected during their routine liver biopsy. A blood sample of 15 milliliters will also be taken for storage and future liver-related research.
