Brief description of study.

This study will follow the development of the Books & Beyond literacy exchange program. The purpose of the study is to document and explore the unfolding of an international exchange of English literacy and the development of critical literacy as schoolchildren from Rwanda and NJ exchange stories that they have written and illustrated with the help of Indiana University Global Village students.

This study will follow the development of the Books & Beyond literacy exchange program. The purpose of the study is to document and explore the unfolding of an international exchange of English literacy and the development of critical literacy as schoolchildren from Rwanda and NJ exchange stories that they have written and illustrated with the help of Indiana University Global Village students.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the development of a literacy exchange program called Books & Beyond. The purpose of this study is to explore how schoolchildren from Rwanda and New Jersey share and develop their English literacy skills. They do this by exchanging stories that they have written and illustrated, with assistance from Indiana University Global Village students.

Participants in the study will be involved in documenting and exploring the exchange process. This will include observing how children from different cultures develop their critical literacy skills through storytelling and illustration.

  • Who can participate: Eligible participants are those interested in observing and documenting literacy skill development in schoolchildren.
  • Study details: Participants will observe and document the exchange of stories between schoolchildren in Rwanda and New Jersey. They will focus on how these exchanges help in developing literacy skills.
