The purpose of this study is to investigate how a psychosocial therapy can improve metacognition, which is the ability to think about one’s own thinking processes, in people with Serious Mental Illness (SMI). This study also aims to understand how this therapy can affect speech and social functioning in their daily lives.

Participants will be involved in a treatment that uses a wearable device to enhance a therapy called MERIT. This therapy is designed to improve metacognitive skills, which may lead to better social interactions and functioning.

  • Who can participate: Eligible participants must have a diagnosis of Serious Mental Illness and show signs of metacognitive dysfunction. Exclusion criteria include substance dependence, intellectual disabilities, or inability to provide informed consent.
  • Study details: Participants will engage in a therapy involving a wearable device to support the MERIT approach, which aims to enhance metacognitive abilities and improve social functioning.
