Brief description of study.

In this pilot study, we hypothesize that, chronic wounds that are fail to heal in a timely manner carry specific genetic signatures, an understanding of such information of will result in design of gene target based approach for management of chronic wounds. These genetic signatures will be studied using debrided wound tissue that is removed by the wound care provider as part of standard of care. The reference genomic signature will be evaluated by obtaining blood samples and will be compared with wound debrided tissue genomic signature to understand wound specific genomic changes.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Chronic Wounds
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the genetic signatures found in chronic wounds that do not heal properly. Chronic wounds are injuries that take a long time to heal, and they may have specific genetic markers. The study will analyze these markers by examining tissue removed from the wound during routine care and comparing it to blood samples to understand the genetic differences.

Participants will provide wound tissue samples that are removed as part of their normal wound care. They will also give blood samples so researchers can compare the genetic information from the blood and the wound tissue. This comparison will help identify changes specific to the wound.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be adults aged 18 and older with chronic wounds that have not healed after 8 weeks of standard care. Additional eligibility criteria include being able to provide informed consent and having no underlying conditions that could interfere with study participation.
  • Study details: Participants will provide wound tissue samples, which are removed during standard wound care, and blood samples for genetic analysis. A placebo is not involved in this study.
