Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of PCSO-524®, and a blend of PCSO-524® (75%) and krill oil (25%) (ESPO-572®), on indirect markers of muscle damage, inflammation and soreness during recovery from muscle damaging exercise.

Detailed description of study

This study lasts 7 weeks and requires 8 different laboratory visits in the School of Public Health.

Participants will be compensated for their participation upon study completion.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Healthy
  • Age: 18 years - 30 years
  • Gender: Male

Inclusion criteria

Exercise no more than 3 times per week for 30 minutes each day

Updated on 19 Feb 2024. Study ID: 1809579862

This study investigates the effects of an investigational blend of substances on muscle damage, inflammation, and soreness during recovery from exercise. Muscle damage refers to the physical stress and micro-tears that occur in muscles during intense physical activity. Inflammation is the body's response to injury or stress, often causing redness and swelling. Soreness is the discomfort felt in muscles after exercise.

Participants in this study will undergo specific procedures to assess the effects of the investigational substances. These procedures will include laboratory visits where participants' muscle damage, inflammation, and soreness will be measured using indirect markers. Indirect markers are indicators that suggest the presence of a condition without directly measuring it.

  • Who can participate: Adults who exercise no more than 3 times per week for 30 minutes each day are eligible to participate.
  • Study details: Participants will take part in laboratory visits to evaluate the investigational substances' effects. A placebo may be used, which is an inactive substance that looks like the investigational medicine but does not contain any active ingredients.
  • Study Timelines and Visits: The study will last 7 weeks. The study requires 8 visits.
