Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to understand how gender is classified and recorded on identification documents such as drivers' licenses and birth certificates and to analyze the consequences of gender classification.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Healthy
  • Age: 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria

For group A, participants must have changed, attempted to change, or plan to change their gender marker on U.S. state or federal identification documents; or be the parent or guardian of someone who has changed, attempted to change, or plans to change their gender marker on U.S. state or federal identification documents.
For Group B, participants must work or volunteer for a government office that issues or otherwise interacts with identification documents, or for a non-governmental organization that helps people change their gender marker on identification documents.

This study investigates how gender is classified and recorded on identification documents such as drivers' licenses and birth certificates. It aims to analyze the consequences of gender classification on these documents, which are essential for various legal and personal purposes.

Participants in the study will be divided into two study arms. One arm will include individuals who have changed or plan to change their gender marker on identification documents, as well as parents or guardians of such individuals. The other arm will consist of individuals working or volunteering in government offices or organizations that assist with gender marker changes.

  • Who can participate: Participants must be involved in changing gender markers on identification documents or work in relevant organizations assisting with these changes.
  • Study details: Participants will be asked to share their experiences and insights regarding gender classification on identification documents.
