Investigating Decision-Making Experiences in Osteosarcoma (a type of bone cancer) Treatment
Brief description of study.
The purpose of this study is to explore the lived experience and patient education (knowledge transfer) of patients and families when making a surgical decision for the treatment of osteosarcoma.
Detailed description of study
This study requires a 10 minute phone call to determine eligibility, a one hour interview, and a 10 minute follow up survey. Adult survivors, partners, parents. and children 14-18 with a parent are eligible to participate.
All participants will receive a gift card as a thank you for your time.

Inclusion Criteria
Individuals who participated in a surgical decision for the treatment osteosarcoma in the lower extremity.
Participants will be between the ages of 14-17 with parents/guardians, patients over the age of 18, family members or other persons designated as supporting the patient during the decision making process
This study investigates the experiences of patients and families when deciding on surgery for osteosarcoma, which is a type of bone cancer. Osteosarcoma often affects the bones in the legs. The study aims to understand how patients and their families learn about and decide on surgical options.
Participants will take part in a one-hour interview to discuss their experiences. Before the interview, there will be a short 10-minute phone call to check if they are eligible. After the interview, participants will complete a 10-minute follow-up survey.
- Who can participate: Participants include those aged 14-17 with a parent or guardian, as well as patients over 18 and family members involved in surgical decisions for osteosarcoma in the legs.
- Study details: Participants will engage in a phone call, an interview, and a follow-up survey. They will receive a gift card as a token of appreciation for their time.
