Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to validate a computer controlled electronic device as a tool for assessing power in trained swimmers.

Detailed description of study

The purpose of this study is to gain a better understanding about swimming power. More specifically, we will be measuring peak power of competitive swimmers with a computer-controlled, electronic device and compare that to a more conventional, widely-used form of swimming resistance training.

This study take place in Bloomington, IN and is only recruiting students at IU Bloomington.

Participants will not be paid for their participation.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy,swim,swimming,exercise,physical activity
  • Age: 18 years - 24 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Healthy individuals
Trained, competitive swimmers
Exclusion Criteria
Any indication of cardiopulmonary disease

This study investigates the use of a computer-controlled electronic device to measure swimming power in trained swimmers. Swimming power refers to the force and strength swimmers use to move through water. The study aims to compare the measurements from this device with those from traditional swimming resistance training methods.

Participants will undergo tests using the electronic device to measure their peak power. These tests will be compared to conventional methods to see how well the device works. The testing process involves using the device to assess how much power swimmers can generate.

  • Who can participate: Healthy, trained competitive swimmers without any cardiopulmonary disease are eligible to participate. The study is recruiting students from IU Bloomington.
  • Study details: Participants will use an electronic device to measure their swimming power, which will be compared to conventional training methods. No payment is provided for participation.
