Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to investigate droplet splatter resulting from in-office otolaryngology procedures including flexible laryngoscopy and rigid nasal endoscopy. Participants will be entered into a drawing to win 1 of 4 $25 Starbucks gift cards.

Detailed description of study

Participants will receive a nasal spray of lidocaine and epinephrine followed by a nasal spray of fluorescein prior to their procedure (flexible laryngoscopy or rigid nasal endoscopy).

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: COVID-19,COVID19,COVID 19,COVID,coronavirus,corona virus,corona,otolaryngology,nasal,virus
  • Age: 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Healthy individuals at least 18 years of age.

This study investigates droplet splatter that occurs during certain ear, nose, and throat procedures. These procedures include flexible laryngoscopy, where a thin tube with a camera is inserted through the nose to view the voice box, and rigid nasal endoscopy, which uses a rigid tube to examine the nasal passages.

Participants will receive a nasal spray containing lidocaine and epinephrine, medicines that numb and reduce swelling in the nasal area, followed by a nasal spray of fluorescein, a dye that helps visualize droplet splatter, before their procedure.

  • Who can participate: Healthy individuals who are 18 years of age or older may participate.
  • Study details: Participants will receive a nasal spray of lidocaine and epinephrine followed by a fluorescein spray to help visualize droplet splatter during their procedure.
