This study investigates how traumatic brain injury (TBI) affects emotional awareness and control. TBI can cause problems with emotions, leading to negative outcomes. The study will look at how a treatment program can improve understanding and control of emotions in people with TBI.
Participants will be involved in a treatment program designed to enhance their awareness and understanding of emotions. This program aims to help them better control their emotions, which is a common issue after experiencing TBI.
- Who can participate: Individuals who have had a complicated mild, moderate, or severe TBI and are at least one year post-injury can participate. They must have moderate to high screening scores indicating difficulty in identifying and expressing emotions (alexithymia) and should not have any premorbid neurological disorders or major psychiatric conditions.
- Study details: Participants will engage in a treatment program focused on improving emotional awareness and understanding. The purpose is to enhance their emotional understanding through specific activities. They will not be involved in any active psychological treatment during the study.
