Brief description of study.

The purpose of this study is to determine how it is that people with different language experiences perceive speech sounds spoken by different people in different contexts. It also seeks to determine how people's language experience affects how they produce these sounds as well.

Detailed description of study

The proposed study examines how speakers of one language perceive sounds in a second language with which they have limited experience, as well as how such speakers produce the same sounds when they acquire this second language.
This study takes place in Bloomington, IN.

Participants will be paid for their participation.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: healthy
  • Age: 18 years - 100 years
  • Gender: All

Inclusion Criteria
Must be native speakers of specific languages being targeted by specific experiments, including Chinese, Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, and English.

This study investigates how people with different language backgrounds perceive and produce speech sounds. The purpose is to understand how language experience influences the way individuals hear and articulate sounds in various contexts.
