Detailed description of study

The goal is to use birth certificate data to estimate risk-adjusted rates of preterm births and cesarean sections for all maternity hospitals in Indiana.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions: Preterm Birth
  • Age: 100 years or below
  • Gender: All

This study investigates the rates of preterm births and cesarean sections in maternity hospitals across Indiana. Preterm birth is when a baby is born before 37 weeks of pregnancy are completed. A cesarean section, also known as a C-section, is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through incisions in the abdomen and uterus.

The study uses data from birth certificates to calculate risk-adjusted rates. This means the data is analyzed to account for different risk factors that might affect the rates of preterm births and cesarean sections. By doing so, the study aims to provide a clearer understanding of these rates across different hospitals.

  • Who can participate: There are no age or specific eligibility requirements because the study uses existing data and does not involve direct participation.
  • Study details: Participants will not be required to take any actions, as the study uses existing birth certificate data.
